A foundation course in the anatomy and physiology of the face and neck.

Skin analysis and the performance of a one hour manual facial treatment.

Content

Anatomy and physiology of the face and neck. Understanding the relevant systems. Skin – structure and function. Application of cleansers, toners, masks and moisturisers.

General product knowledge. Use and purpose of implements Facial massage. Theory of massage. Contra-indications. Hygiene, sterilisation and aftercare. Costings and timings.

Previous experience

No previous experience is necessary.
Preliminary reading material is available.

Skincare & Facial Treatments – Stage 2

Duration - One day

The course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge gained in the Stage 1 course to a more advanced level.

It can taken consecutively with Stage 1 or at a later date.

The second-stage course gives a more in-depth knowledge into the analysis of skin and comprehensive treatment of the face and neck.

Content

Steaming of the face and neck. Treatment and extractions of blackheads and milia. Extended facial massage. Corrective treatments. Application of ampoules and scrubs.

Product knowledge. Hygiene, safety and aftercare procedures. Costings and timings. Skin analysis. Recommended treatment facials.

Previous experience

Students must have completed stage 1 or have equivalent relevant knowledge or qualification.

Threading

Duration – 1 Day

An increasingly popular method of hair removal, using traditional techniques of threading. A one day course from 10am to 3pm – all models, equipment, products & reading materials are provided for you. Ideal for removing stray hairs from the face, lip, chin & eyebrows. Creates great eyebrow shapes.

Make-up Techniques

Duration – One or Two days

Stage 1: Day Make-up - One day course

Cleanse, tone and moisturise the face and neck for application of make-up.
Use of all implements, sponges, sponge applicators, brushes, dusting brushes, buds etc.
Application of foundation, powder, lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara, blusher and pencils.

Stage 2: Professional evening and wedding make-up - One day course

Face shaping analysis.
Appreciation of facial structure.
Shading and reshaping of facial contours.
Application techniques for special occasions.
Eyebrow shapes and shading.
Blending.
Product knowledge.

Previous experience

A qualification in facial treatments is an advantage – students with no relevant knowledge must begin with stage 1.

Cosmetic Camouflage Make-up

Duration - Half day

The covering of birthmarks, skin blemishes, scars and tattoos to blend naturally with the client’s own skin tones in a waterproof finish.

Client record card and consultation. Client approach. Psychology of the client. The different types of scars and birthmarks. Product knowledge.

Correct use of implements. Application techniques. Hygiene. Costings and timings. Client aftercare and home treatment advice.

Students should have completed Stage 1 skincare or have equivalent knowledge/qualification.

Duration – Half day

Ear piercing is a well established and profitable beauty treatment – this course provides the skills and confidence to give a professional, safe and comfortable treatment.

Correct application of treatment. Marking the lobes. Stud/ring levelling. Multiple piercings. Client consultation and aftercare.
